Loveliness of Patina

Patina: (pat'n-a) noun. 1. A fine crust or film on bronze or copper: it is usually green or greenish blue and is formed by natural oxidation; it is valued as being ornamental. 2. Any thin coating or color change resulting from age, as on the surface of old woodwork.

I patina-ed some larger collage charms I made many moons ago today... I love how they turned out! They have a wonderful quality of loved and aged treasures from long ago.

Some folks have the luxury of being able to buy brand new high end furniture and accessories.. but we don't here..But that's okay because being the sentimental fool I am, worn and loved is what I prize!

This charm says " Keep up appearances what every you do" and have a Victorian lady on the front.

These two are the backs of " He's tough ma'am tough" and "Has anyone seen my dog Totto?"

Here it is as a drawer pull on a loved dresser at the top of our stairs that holds our linens...

These larger charms are so much fun! They add whimsy and interest where ever they are...

Patina is so beautiful in my eyes.. I use estate silver everyday, and no it's not bright and shinny.. Things that have acquired this wonderful warm look always remind me of older relatives homes... a feeling of comfort and fun...

Can't you just see these wonderful treasures coming from some wonderful estate somewhere? Aged and loved pieces have history... that what makes them such a wonder to me. Who owned this originally? Was this a wedding present? Things like that...

And if you do find a treasure but it seems abit too new.... you can patina it your self with a bath of coffee... or there are patina acids that turn metal that wonderful color like what I used on my charms...

Emotion of France

Here is my contribution to the 'les emotion de la France' book swap. Now... I just have to print out twenty four pages...glitterfy and send in!!

I just wanted to share real quick... #1 has an appointment in a couple of hours to take his drivers test to get his license! It's kinda weird how they do it here...we actually have to go to another city because there were no appointments available in the city we live. You have to make an appointment months in advance! I remember just walking in and takin' it.. gosh..that was a long time ago!lol!!

Anyway..wish us luck! I hope he passes..just for his sake.. it will give him some self confidence.

New Charm and found texture

Happy Monday... Busy weekend.. I have been painting and sprucing up to get the house ready to sell our selves... I just had to pause as I was packing some odds and ends away... with the wonderful textures around me.. I'm constantly looking for inspiration around me and I didn't even stop and realize I had inspiration right in my own bedroom... This is one of my bedside table lamps.. I smudged my self out of the reflection..but I just love the silver sheen these lamps have.. smooth and cool to the touch.. mini gazing balls.

This is a beautiful white rose wreath that hangs over our bed. Now with the chocolate froth walls and white trim..soft pristine folds right above our head...

Here is a antique picture that hangs on our door... simple.. the gilded frame adds a beautiful ridged trim...

Now to my favorite! I love birds nests... something about the intricate weave of the grass and fibers makes me feel all cozy.. Aren't the smooth eggs lovely? The colors are a wonderful tan and the faintest of blue... wonderful inspiration for my blog colors! I'll have to play around with that later. Let's see.. we have; smooth, soft, thread like.... lovely..

Well.. it's a birthday today! #1 turns 16!! Oh my...where did the time go? Just seems like yesterday he was born.... There are times I think teenagers have lost their minds..then he turns around and surprises me.. We had a wonderful dinner tonight...At his fave place "Old Chicago"..
When DH comes home from work we will have a party for this guy.. 16... hmm... he's going to go and take his drivers test for his licence this Wed... OH my... I love you #1!! I pray you have many more..

Who's afraid of a little Color ?
I must admit I am...a bit color shy when it comes to room colors...granted I have a dove gray bathroom..and a sage green hallway. But I've never been so carefree to add wonderful color. I stick to neutral backdrops...tan..white..lightest of pink, NEVER reds! or orange or yellow..

But, I think once we can sell this house we are in and move.. I will try some wonderful new color palettes!! Would you just look at the wonderful colors in this living room!! My scanner didn't truly pick up the colors like it should... that is chartreuse on the ceiling ladies and gentlemen! The chairs are pink with yellow piping..Aren't those curtain a wonderful splash of freshness?

This wonderful settee is yellow and hot pink! These bright colors really do warm up the room. If you are color shy like I am, simple throw pillows would be a great 'baby step' to inject a room with a punch of color. Hmmm..I'm really digging the pinks!!

Liven up a dinning room in red?!! Never in a million years would I put such a dramatic color on the walls..till now... color is wonder! It brightens the mood and can evoke wonderful feelings of comfort or excitement.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's day! I did... Wonderful family time and lots of good food! lol! Oh yes...and a new set of golf clubs too!

Here is my submission to Somerset's Black and White... Deadline is August 15th. This will be my second piece I've submitted... I hope this will be considered! Black and White can be a somber theme.. but

After painting the background and adding the sheet music... The thought for this collage all fell into place. Life is a song! Truly it is.. Sometimes it can be fast and furious like 'Flight of the Honey Bee' or a Broadway show tune like 'Your Neverfully Dressed without a Smile' ...or sometimes it can be like 'Taps' .

But it's your song! You can sing it loudly! Not all people like the same music, that's okay 'cause I think life gets pretty boring hearing the same song over and over...don't you?

I hope everyone has a wonderful week! I haven't been able to visit like I should...I will try and stop by soon!

Nail update! It's been 3 days and they still look great!! I've cleaned..done dishes and fought with changing sheets and other laundry and they have stayed put!

15 min. manicure

Okay... we are going to do a little test here on the 'ole blog... Yes, that is MY hand there in the pictures.
I love wonderfully manicured nails. BUT some people like me take the time to paint them and with the way I use my hands as tools.. good luck on keeping a beautiful clean paint job.. then, there is my attention span.. I am so notorious for 'picking' at the paint and we all know that is an etiquette 'NO NO' . I've done the professional salon set and that gets to be so pricey! Not to mention #1 winds up wanting to strangle his brothers if he is left to baby sit for very long...AAAANND...those salon nails sometime turn out too thick and that gets on my nerves because I can never pick up things with my finger tips.. SOOOO...Enter Broadway Nails I found these babies at WalMart... I'm going to see if they are worth the 5$ I paid for them! Hence the test. The packaging says they are to last 10 days..we shall see my pretties!

Well, the application time took 15 minuets! Not bad. Ever done a home French Manicure? First you have to paint the tips..let that dry..then the rest...let that dry ... top coat! Truthfully, that's all it took me to put these on...15 min.

They actually look like my real nails! They are 'naturally' thin too! So, I will keep you guys posted and see if these nails actually last the 10+ days they say.

I didn't capture the name in the picture, but again... these are called Broadway Nails and I found them at WalMart.

I always knew I was a late bloomer! This is the first bloom of Spring...besides the Johnny Jump Ups..the first one. I'm sure the majority of you have already said good-bye to your Tulips and Daffodils... Not me... They are just starting to come up in the garden. Today was the second time this Spring that we had to mow the grass... I think 'It' is finally here...

Wonderful vintage inspired tags I just completed today... I really had a blast making them... tiny little collages special in it's own right... I think I hooked!

I created three sets. Two pink ones and one sepia one... lots and lots of glitter of course..

I want to put some in the store... what is a good set..3? 4?

I think they add a wonderful unique touch to gifts or letters...

Snow?

Did I get your attention with the title? Yes..that's right ladies and gentlemen..we are having snow this morning...It's Spring..right?lol...
So..what do you do when the weather outside is frightful? Make cake!! Cupcakes that is... both collages are 4"inchesx5"inches. First collage is dreamy pink on on a wonderful Robin's egg blue background.

This one is a Robin's egg blue one on a pink background. Can you see the stitching I added to the second cupcakes paper? I stitched a little bit of hot pink thread on the paper to give it some depth. I think the stitching adds wonderful interest, I will be stitching some more in pieces to come.

I've joined a swap again... Les 'emotions de la France Book Swap ... Why do I do this to my self?!! Because it's good for me I guess... I'm such a shy violet that I probably wouldn't try and do anything and then wind up beating myself up for it... So.. this should be interesting. My theme for my page is Dance..or Twirl.. haven't decided yet.

Well...#3's teacher is having a birthday..he's so sweet, he wanted to make her a card. I think it turned out very nice if I do say so myself! lol.

I added one of my soldered charms for good measure! I just love children's art work! It really helps you see things from a wonderful innocent perspective.

Somthin' for the Kitchen

Well, on this fine Friday Afternoon... Just wanted to share two amazing sites I have found... At our house we don't have cable or a 'dish' so the channels we watch are pretty limited.. We recently upgraded to a digital T.V and antenna! On Thursday nights here..on PBS..there are some wonderful cooking shows! ..Of course after CSI.. I have become addicted to JoanneWeir and America's Test Kitchen . On Joanne's show, she has a one on one cooking class with a lucky individual and they create some amazing mouth watering dishes. America's Test Kitchen takes recipes and breaks them down and figures out a better more tasty way to prepare it...they also show what products taste the best and work the best in the kitchen..last night it was fillet mignon and mixed drink shakers!

Soo..if you need some lovin' for your oven...a little 'spice' for your life!lol... Check out these two sites! Best of all..it's free!

I have some wonderful cast iron pieces that will be going in the Shoppe after the blog coupon sale is over... I have a set of 4 iron 'shabby' white drawer pulls. I love the rusty'ess' of them!

Can you see the lovely scroll work on them? Wouldn't these look neat in a bathroom?

Here is a wonderful 'spade' shaped finial.. put it in the garden this Summer..and it will be lovely and weathered to add a vintage touch for your indoors this fall.

Fleur-de-lis anyone? Can't you just see this adorning a lovely Victorian fence? Neat new items coming your way.. New..but you and I both know that these can be weathered and rusty in no time and inject that 'little' something your space needs....

What are some of your dreams? I was noticing today while running errands.. #3 was skipping every where he went..Ahh..to be free at heart to skip.. Never mind my bad knees... To be light hearted to 'skip' in my heart places...Children..and my DH who is a child at heart really remind me to not take things so seriously...

New Larger collage

Here is a new larger collage I completed today!! I loove it! It's 6"inchesX7"inches.. The caption says "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God"

I love the little boy... typical 'all boy' grin... reminds me of 'Dennis the Menace' or..mine!
This is something we really try and instill in the boys... Be peacemakers not trouble makers! Makes the world a better place that way.

Here it is matted.. I think I need to get a bigger mat for it, the opening is a little too small.. Eventually this will make it's way into the Shoppe and maybe even some charms!

Speaking of 'boys' my #2 started with baseball this evening...ahh..Spring is here..

Something new

Something new today...it's all rainy and yucky outside...but that's okay..I was able to solder this lovely! She is 1"inch square beveled glass for that extra sparkle.

These pictures don't do it justice. You actually can see the cowgirl quite clearly in person. This is a copy of an original collage I've done. I had a 'Duh' moment yesterday and tried shrinking my work on Photoshop! They all came out clear and just the right size.

You know...it was hard to solder this morning..I'm out of my rhythm! It is so true, solder a little each day and you will stay in practise.

Here is the reverse side..wonderful vintage fabric from an old feed sack quilt.

Life is coming back!

Yes! Oh yes, life is coming back to all parts! It has been a long hard winter for so many people... here in the WI included. I seriously can't remember when it was 60f in sooo long! Well, it was 62f today!! Yay!!
It was glorious...the sun was shinning and not a hint of snow or rain in the air. I was actually awakened by birds outside my window!! Yes, gosh that sounds corny...but yes.. at the crack of dawn they were just 'a chirpin' away... I honestly forgot what that sounded like!! The one day a week I can sleep in and I feel like I was in a bad movie or something...AKKK! Please forgive but I just had to shoo my morning visitors away for a bit...
LOL.
After all the theatrics of the wee morning hours.. it was okay..strangely. I have been dealing with extreme pain for quite some time now. If it isn't horrific headaches its been debilitating joint pain, like the whole world is standing on you pain.. I am okay.. NO PAIN today!!! Seriously...
Thanks to my wonderful DH..I am on a new vitamin regime as well as an exercise regime.. Hmmm..could it be working? I don't know, but I will keep you posted!
With the glorious sunshine calling us.. I just had to play "hooky" from stuff..I packed #2 &#3 up and we went out..#1 was in a choral competition all day and come to find out he placed first!! These wonderful photos are of actual life coming back after this horrific Winter.
Our whole landscape looks like a war zone..and these wee 'Johnny Jump Ups' are signaling the coming of Spring.
It's just such a relief.. A breath of Life come back... thank you Lord!.....

"Winkin, Blinkin and Nod" are what I call them.

This collage is trimmed with black checked ribbon...I hand colored the outfits and of course! German glass glitter adorns the top..

This is a very 'green' one lol... I love Spring and this one is all that!! The flowers are actually vintage wall paper pieces..

You know the saying "Bloom where you are planted" ? Well, I switched it... "Where are you planted"? Where are your roots? What is your foundation for life?

Well.. it's over! Thank God! In all His mercy and goodness the taxes are done!! The monkey is finally off my back.. all is well.. according to the accountant we don't owe anything for this year.. this is totally amazing seeing as for the past 5 years we have owed..and owed... and owed..
I just feel so bad because it seems sales have slumped since Dec. for Bella Colle and so have blog visitors.. I would so love to just sit and visit and be on the web...but.. family commitments come first though, and I just pray I can catch a breath now.
just to get my mind off things I visited the fab Anthropologie...I can only window shop for now because everything is a bit too much... wonderful Spring cuties to be found.. thoughts rise above the horrible thunderstorms we are having here in the WI. to Spring and Summer days where one can walk outside without a jacket..boots..gloves...smelling the wonderful flowers and air..
How about day dreaming for Home... Potterybarn has wonderful fresh inspirations..Okay Okay your looking for something original, how about this? Use these wonderful sites for inspiration... take something from there and tweak it... twirl it... fluff it.. go find equally beautiful items else where and turn it into your own. I know I do... for less.

yay! BBQ...other nonsense...

Well..we just had our first BBQ of the 2008 season.. yummm..A very much needed distraction from the chaotic life that has become mine. I don't know what happened, things were truckin' along smoothly till what? Till we said we were going to put our house on the market...?
And now, I haven't been able to catch my breath! Painting, sanding... school work..appointments.. And now TAX time...
DH and I have another business that we are responsible for and tax time is apon us. I have spent the last few days making sure receipt after receipt has been tallied and have one more day to compile Bella Colle receipts and get the agony over with! I love being self employed the majority of the year...but this time of year I really hate! Tax time...sorry! So we took a bit to have a BBQ (even though it was only 4o degrees F. )
I have been soo out of the loop with Bella Colle and it is killin' me!! I miss visiting such lovely folks and lingering and learning so much about everyone....I hope after this Monday.. (They should be all done) I can get back in the saddle again!!

It is coming!! It is coming!!

Can ya see it?!! Look real close... grass!! Yup! That's right ladies and gentlemen..Spring is coming slowly but surely to the WI.. Tomorrow marks the official seasonal change here into Spring.. you can't really tell with the snow still here but it is finally starting to melt. Unfortunately we are seeing some flooding in areas. (This is my back yard)

Here is the view from the front door. More grass visible and you can even see the road! I promise you that for the whole month of Dec..Jan.. and Feb..we could not tell where the road was. If the rabbits haven't done too much damage, things will start blooming soon. The Hydrangeas look like withered sticks, but they will soon blossom into wonderful snowballs of Spring and Summer beauty.

Well, unlike my family down South..Where you can walk out on your way to church on Easter Sunday and enjoy the beautiful flowers all around.. we have to enjoy wonderful bulbs here for Easter forced in pots...That's okay...Ahhh... they smell so wonderful...

Finally some new charms...

Yay! I was actually able to get some charms made today!! The two charms on the right are 1/2" inch. beveled glass and the one on top is a bigger 1"inch beveled glass and the glass button on the bottom is 1/2".

This charm has a vintage stamp of Queen Elizabeth on the opposite side.

This is a piece of wonderful Cavallini & Co. paper... gotta love it.. all their papers and items are so eclectic and vintage inspired.

This is the opposite of the little blue flower...

And a lovely for Mom..

This is the larger 1" inch charm... Kinda looks like a superhero emblem..lol

My Saturday...

This is how I spent my Saturday... spackling and painting and sanding and some more painting. I haven't been able to sit down and create for awhile.... I am longing to do so. Some folks have probably grown quite bored, I am so sorry... but this is my life... and I think it is beautiful. We are readying our home to sell and take the next big step God has for us..He only knows and that is okay.

It is amazing all the little holes and cracks I have found today! lol! One wall in particular was kinda hard to paint over.... it is the wall that we measured the boys every so often on. We would measure them and write a little something important by the date.."#1 almost as tall as dad"..."#2 first time riding a bike"... "#3... potty trained..." So many more entries on that wall... we all took a moment today remembering each time.. 7 years seem to have slipped by in an instant gazing up at the wall...But you know, it's okay. The paint may be able to cover it up on the wall, but it will never cover up the wonderful memories we have had here.

We are looking forward to the next step..the new place God has for us. Dh has actually finished quite a few classes and is doing well in college.. School for the boys will be ending in a few months.. Spring is coming.. I was able to look out as I was painting the hall window today and saw some grass!! lol... not a big patch.. but it's there and as each day I can see more and more of it, I will embrace the wonderful rebirth.. of the land and our family.

I just love it! With the ad about to make it's 'debut' I wanted to spruce the store up... Cathy helped me do it. Cathy is so nice and patient, I'm so glad that I was able to have her help me.

This is the home page..each page has the beautiful header and tag on it... it's freshened up for Spring. I also would like to change the 'favicon' for it... I was able to create one all by myself for my typepad blog, let's see if I can do it for blogger and the store.
Never heard of 'Favicon'?.. they are the fun icons in the address bar that are a picture identifying the site... what do you think of my typepad one?
I think when the ad finally appears.. I will have my first evers sale! 10% off for my blog land friends.. I'll have to work out the details for that.

Spring Fun

I joined this fun swap over at GypsyMermaidLife
a bit ago and was finally able to complete my contributions... sorry soo slow...
This is a fun swap where you mail your items in and then they get sent to some one else... I like that because it's a surprise as to who winds up with what...

The theme was garden/tea....

And you had to include a pretty bird and a butterfly... my butterfly is funky, the body looks like a big cigar or something..but in all... fun stuff!

Can't wait to receive my swap items in the mail!! They will be strung on a garland or ribbon and I will be able to hang them up and add some fun Spring freshness to our abode... goodness knows we have Spring fever bad here!!lol!

Fun Spring Necklace

Fun Spring necklace here! I used vintage elements like the pendant and the large crystal on the back pendant... Some is silver plated some is sterling... there are crystal Swarovski crystals.. Rose quartz and the Bali silver head pins...

Didn't the back pendant turn out cool? And I used a unique heart clasp... You know the fun thing is.. I can keep adding or taking away as the inspiration hits! I will eventually list this in the store as well...I think I need to find some rhinestone buttons and add them some how..!!

I can't wait for time in the studio to solder!! Its been 'burnin' in my brain' to do some..unfortunately I haven't had a chance.. I have an idea to solder a larger charm for Bennie's great-granddaughter that was born just a week before Bennie passed... Some little something that her dad & mom can hang in her nursery.

I also have an idea for a unique 'bridal party' gift.. some kind of charm to commemorate the date.

I have a realtor coming tomorrow to start the process of listing the house.. I'm really nervous but then again I'm not. Kind of interesting turn of events everyone... DH and I just recently (as in the past 4 days..) received job offers in of all places... Idaho!! Don't get me wrong... luv ya Esther Sunday! but talk about a curve ball. This is just soo out of the blue.

But...but... we all wanted to move to Texas.. and the warmth..and the sunshine...and the warmth... lol...secretly I have always wanted to live in Texas...But a few Summers ago I was able to visit Idaho and it was beautiful....

Here's the thing, I would only have to work 3 to 4 hrs. a day and work at home via a company laptop!! I would be a safety officer of a growing trucking company... DH would actually with his job offer work only two weeks a month and make the same amount he slaves for being gone soo much.. The boys are only getting older and quite frankly they need their dad to keep them in line... it's something about when dad's deep voice says 'knock it off'..

We are soo torn up with confusion right now... not sorrow..just confusion. I mean, is this some way to throw us off target? I did check..and there aren't as many flea markets in the area of Idaho we would move as Texas..but there are sooooooo many more than here..(we have 2..both seasonal )LOL.. Some Bible believing churches.. And shopping!! So it wouldn't be bad there..in Idaho, just cold like here in the winters. That is the huge thing about us moving, we can not afford to keep wasting money on trying to stay warm!! I know that we would not have near as large of utilities in Texas as here or Idaho.. I don't know..I'm just really confused now.

Sorry for such a long winded post.. Can anyone tell me a little more about Idaho?!!

Marshmallow can be yummy!

During our travels today... I stumbled on these yummy teeny pink and yellow ducklings.. Oh my gosh! They are yummy. I've never been a big fan of marshmallows... too sticky too sweet...well #3 is a big fan of marshmallows and since it's his birthday tomorrow I figured I would indulge him. We arrived home and let me tell you, these amazing confections are delicious.

I found these babies at well... can you guess? Okay..okay.. I'll tell ya... Williams Sonoma! Can you guess I looove this place? It actually wasn't my idea to go in there tonight, it was DH.

I found a scrumptious sounding recipe that I will have to try. It is from The French Laundry Cook book

INGREDIENTS:
3 envelopes of unflavored Knox gelatin
1/2 cup cold water
2 cups granulated sugar
2/3 cups corn syrup
1/4 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
Confectioners' sugar for dredging
PREPARATION: In the bowl of an electric mixer, sprinkle gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water. Soak for 10 minutes. Combine sugar, corn syrup, and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan.

Bring to a boil and boil hard for 1 minute. Pour boiling syrup into gelatin and mix at high speed. Add the salt and beat for 12 minutes. Add vanilla and incorporate into mixture. Scrape into a 9 x 9-inch pan lined with oiled plastic wrap and spread evenly. (Note: Lightly oil hands and spatula or bowl scraper). After pouring marshmallow mixture into the pan, take another piece of plastic wrap and press mixture into the pan.

Let mixture sit for a few hours. Remove from pan, dredge the marshmallow slab with confectioners' sugar and cut into 12 equal pieces with scissors (the best tool for the job) or a chef's knife. Dredge each piece of marshmallow in confectioners' sugar. Yield: 12 large marshmallows

Well, I was cleaning out the studio and found these two older collages I've done.... look familiar?
Gosh... I can't believe I have soooooo much stuff stashed places. The studio was the children's play room...and class room ( I used to home school when they were smaller) till I kicked 'em out and made it mine..ALL MINE !Muaw hauaw haw!!! LOL! just kidding... seriously, I can't believe what pack rat I am!! It's amazing what you can accumulate over 7 years.

This one I really like! Seein' I have boys and all... I made this one into a larger soldered charm and was able to sell it at Assemblage Studio. This cleaning out is really time consuming, but I know if we put some effort into it.. the house will fare well and we will be able to sell in a reasonable time. I think it's going to be funny at all the things we find that were 'mysteriously' lost over the years! Like the first T.V remote ( had to buy a universal one.. ) Those all important Star Wars pieces that because they are lost... Obi One's ship wont fly! Hey maybe the galaxy will be saved after all..LOL

Thank goodness it's almost the weekend! Hey.. #3...my youngest..my baby will be turning 9!! Yay...

Fruits of the Spirit

Well, busy busy here... who's not right? I so wanted to get into the studio and create but I have been trying to get things into storage and 'de cluttering' as folks have suggested. I have been trying to get to figure out what needs to be painted and I'm concerned about if I need paint over some of the things I've done on the walls..
One thing I love, and I think I will leave is this stencil I did at the top of our living room. It's a 'Tree of Life' and I painted the 'Fruits of the Spirit' under every other one... Anyone know them?
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is...
love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

I just really want to thank every body who has been visiting my blogs lately and leaving comments! You have really been making my day!
Anyone ever feel 'scattered' in a million places? I do.. So much so that it is starting to affect my health...and I am so glad I just took the night to go to a Bible study with DH... So sorry for not coming to visit today.. I will try and stop in tomorrow and say "Hi"..

Fun stuff!

Fun stuff today! I went to the one and only antiques mall here... and found some fun things..This is my favorite! It's just a white statue of fruit..but is soo reminds me of Carmen Miranda!! Cha Cha Cha!!LOL
This will be going in the store, I just have to figure out a price. There is a tiny leaf broken off, I couldn't really tell till I REALLY looked for it.. I think it only adds to the Shabbyesque of it

Vintage Fire King!! It is so funny how you can be combing booth after booth..it seems that folks would try and keep tabs on what their 'neighbor' booth prices are and stay competitive with them. Maybe they are smart and pricing things lower to keep things moving in their booth..

My point is that I was able to pick it up at a wonderful price and will be putting it in the store. I love Ironstone more for my kitchen....

And lastly.. Estate silver plate! I finally found some knives. I'm on the hunt for some trophies!! What do you guys think of Estate silver? I think it adds a lovely touch to everyday meals.

Well... it's time to say good-bye to White Corners... DH and I have been thinkin' real hard for a while now.. and as much as we love White Corners.. everything has a season and well... After a long hard Winter and only increased living expenses..and 7 long years later.. White Corners is on the market. It's our year of Jubilee!

Texas is where we are searching..searching for a new home... our 'other' business allows DH to travel quite frequently through this lovely state.. #1 son is very upset.. almost to unlivable with.. but I know we will be able to find a good home and a wonderful church family to become a part of. We thought of going back to my homeland of Georgia and well, because of the water shortages and all, it would be better some where else for now...

You wonderful ones who live in this beautiful state.. I am intrigued by your homeland... I would love to hear more about it!! What makes your state the best to live in? Hey, I would love to hear what anyone has to share about your special state! Hey, you know what... what makes your country special.. Kara?

I am hopeful this Spring.. I know this year will bring change and growth!! I just love this time of year.. a time of rebirth and hope. Lets try and embrace the newness!! What are your plans for this year?

Affirmation Fairy

May I introduce to you my first ever 'Affirmation Fairy'. I have been searching for inspiration as some of you may know and while waiting to pick the children up from school yesterday I opened my March issue of 'Cloth Paper Scissors'. I found a piece in there really captivated me!! This is the first time I have ever used a figure I have painted in a collage, I usually use vintage photos. I know she may look abit elementary..but I LIKE her! She has some affirmations that speak to my heart collaged on her dress..

I really enjoyed painting her actually... her blue eyes and heart shaped mouth... It took me some time to think of the affirmations.. rough week and all..DH is a bit miffed..at me.. snow is still in the forecast... She really made me smile when it was all said and done..could we all use more 'Smiles'? Why not fashion your own?... This little one will help me lighten up!

I think I might have to make some sisters for her! Have a Happy Wed. everyone..

Dreamin' of Spring

Oh I am soo dreamin' of Spring! And after the past few days I'm drained and feeling quite blah! In dire need of some inspiration. I doo want to thank everyone who sent your well wishes for us.. #3 is mending quite nicely and I'm still prayin' no one else gets this horrible bug that is going around.
Like I said, I'm needing some inspiration and pulled out some of my books. One fab book in particular that I refer back to often is Better Homes and Gardens 'Flea Market Decorating'. All these photos I found in the book.
What do you think of this amazing Majolica collection? I just love the colors and that's what we need here right about now!lol!

Look at this wonderful room.. Can you see the lovely needle point pillow? How about the vintage frames there on the mantel? Simple, accessible finds you can pick up for next to nothing..Aren't those flowers beautiful? I think they are Snap Dragons?

How about this amazing bath! I'm sure in need of some relaxation right about now!lol! Some lovely bath salts that sure would do the trick.. envisioning the wonderful blooms coming in the garden...AHHHHHH...

This little garden spot would be just right to curl up with a glass of sweet tea and a good book... I can't wait!

Lastly... I was digging through some of my older collages and thought I'd share this one again..."Let Love Take Flight" is what I call it. I was actually able when I first made it to shrink it down via computer and print off a copy I soldered with beautiful beveled glass and added a nice cluster of beads on a jump ring on the bottom... sold quickly at Assemblage.

Anyway... searching for inspiration here..I hope to find lots this week and I will try and share any goodness with you beautiful folks!

First Easter Collage 2008

I know..I know..we just got done with Valentines Day! But I couldn't help myself.
Here is my first 2008 Easter collage.

Fun little girl..Don't you think the chocolate bunnies are the best? LOl!

She will be going in the store shortly... Is it snowing where you are at?! Gosh, I think we have had at least 11" of snow over the weekend... I keep telling myself..."Spring is coming..Spring is coming..." It is gonna come right?!!!LOL!!

We did it..we bit the bullet and placed an ad for Bella Colle. Here is the copy I designed my self....Not saying I'm this fab web designer or anything, but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out!!
I'm really nervous placing the ad..it's not like we are made of money or anything so I'm just praying this will help people know we are here...I pray this ad will pay for it's self eventually! I know DH would greatly appreciate that!!LOL!
I want to enlist the help of the fab web designer Cathy from AvalonRose Web designs to spruce the store up http://avalon-rose-design.com/ I'm also taking steps to freshen the inventory too! Any requests?
As this year progresses I want to take steps in a more positive direction for Bella Colle and define what Bella C stands for. I have set some simple goals this week and gosh, it sure feels good to accomplish them!

A Valentine for a friend

I was able to make this 'Valentine' on canvas for a sweet friend of mine today. It's not a huge canvas, it's only 4"inches by 5"inches.

Lots of glitter... and pink! Oh yeah!

The picture really isn't my friend and I, I found a vintage picture of some ladies from the '40s. I trimmed the edge with pink velvet ribbon and some vintage buttons. I love working on the tiny canvases but I just don't like the ugly staples on the side.

Do you guys do that? Give a close friend a Valentine, or do you reserve Valentine's day strictly for your Sweet Heart? I think it's nice to let dear friends know how much they mean to you. Life is too short and well..I'm tired of being in a shell so much 'cause of past hurts.

There is no law against Love... and well, I think we could all use more of it in our lives! It doesn't cost much to listen when folks speak... maybe even offer help even if it wasn't asked for... a kind note, a phone call...an email! Yes, love goes a long way.

Think of this Valentine for you too my blog friends! I just love to hear from ya... and visiting your little slice of Blogland... hope your weekend is going well.

A Question?

Hi guys! I've been busy busy... Here is another crown I made.. I have this swap that I'm a part of..I've never been in a swap.. I'm trying to decide what to send.

I made the card that is in the back of the tags... the tags..and a soldered charm. It should be good, right? There were no real guide lines..just make it by hand, and it's Valentines.

I was wondering if I could get your guys help. I have two blogs, I really only need one..I only want one. I can't make my mind up to which one to get rid of, Blogger or Typepad?!

Blogger is the one I have had for eva' and met some fab folks through, but Typepad is so much easier to tweak how I like it... no need for learning ancient Blogger html code! LOL!

I try and visit folks as much as I can through Typepad...to kinda say "hey, here I am... " but then folks come here, which feels like home too! AGGGH! I'm in a quandry..a stump... a pit in the road. Lol!...

I have asked some folks for help and well...obviously they are too busy to answer. Tell me, which blog do you like the best? Blogger or Typepad?!

I just wanted to post real quick tonight... I made this tiara/crown today and I just loove it! I call it my Queen of Hearts... I took the soldered heart off my party hat..I think it looks soo much better here, now..

I just received my copy of 'Crowns & Tiaras'. This is an inspiring and beautiful book! A must have for all.

I apologize that I didn't get the side..I will try and update with a side view later on...This book really has some lovely crowns! There are clear directions on how to create the lovelies..and inspirations on how to share them.
I'm part of a Valentine's swap with 'Free People'...Hmmm... ( Wonder if my partner would like this? )Don't I look fab! lol!! #1 caught me...

This one I painted the red heart on the black paisley background, I love how the colors look simple yet fresh.

Here is the reverse side. I wish you guys could see how the beveled glass really makes these charms sparkle.

I added glitter to the reverse side.. Fabulous!

I really need to get on the ball for Valentines..I joined my frist ever swap! My Father's birthday is the 14th... and I agreed to donate a basket for #1's talent show raffle...akkk! I some inspiration badly...I don't even have a clue yet what I'm going to get DH.

I found this quote recently and it was as if this lady was speaking right to me. I wanted to share it with you guys. See, #1 is going to another school dance (Can you remember the last one? not so good..)... #2 is hitting puberty..(Ughh..the testosterone..) and well..#3 is still my baby and he's just growing up waaay to fast!

I think I have lost my mind sometimes... I forget how to spell things, I was alllllwaaays good at spelling! Sometimes, when I walk into a room I forget why I came in there then I have to walk back out to remember why I came in that room in the first place. Sometimes... this is really bad... I'm trying to correct one of them and I can't get the name out! lol! "You...what ever your name is..stop doing that!!" I shriek in a howler monkey sort of voice!

But, at the end of the day...When I look into their eyes...I wouldn't trade it for the world! My goodness...The good Lord used me to create these amazing young men! Each one unique with their own talents and skill, thoughts hopes and desires. The insanity is far out weighed by the blessing each one is...I can only hope to rise to the calling.

Anyway.... I pray #1 has fun at his dance..a sweet young lady from our church is going with him tonight. #1 and sweet young lady are more like cousins..they have known each other since they were waaaay young..she graduated from high school this past year and is now currently in college here..when she learned how nasty people are at #1's school.."Well, we will just go and have a blast.. show those folks how to have some fun." And get this, Sweet young lady's boyfriend knows aalll about it (Nice gentleman, I'll call him). Nice gentleman has taken #1 under his wings..Nice gentleman is only 19 as well..but is a godly young man. It just makes a mother's heart burst when the good Lord puts amazing people in your children's' lives like this....my soul is singing

HOwdY! I just recieved my 'Vintage Chick' tee shirt yesterday!! I love love love it!! It is the coolest color..it's blue, but not really...it could be a dark brown...but not quite....

It's the softest! And, I didn't know this, it's Green! Yes, that's right, it's made with organic cotton. I love it Sherry! Can ya see them? In the swirl on the top, there are rhinestones...tres chic!

Snow day...and an Anniversary...or Birthday...

Well...They did it....They finally called a snow day! It was terrible this morning! What better way to celebrate than with pancakes?!! It's gotten a little bit better, but not much. I so can not wait for Spring!

Well, it is an anniversary/Birthday of sorts this weekend...BellaColle turns one years old! Hurray! What better way to celebrate than to have a give away. All you hand full of fabulous folks who have faithfully read and responded to my blog and been so encouraging. You guys have kept me going in my quest to have this business...

AKKKK!! IT'S COLD!!

Akkk it is soo cold! Yes..Yes...I know...it's cold all over! Wow! We are sittin' here tonight with a

-40 f wind chill. How cold is it where you are? We were teased with 4o degrees yesterday and now it is that BELOW ZERO. I can't say in the 7 years I've lived up here that it's been this cold.. and cold for soooooooo long.

Some one was usin' their noggin today and called school out early Yay!! I pray that they allow at least a two hour delay for school tomorrow. -40 for at least 8 hours..not alot of vehicles are going to be starting at 7 a.m.

Winter... the whiteness... all things for a time and a season.. The good Lord has a plan..I know it, but I pray for His mercy for us. I know there are people tonight cold... not just in my city, but others..that worries me! I know our church has given money to some folks already so they can pay their heat bills... What about the elderly? Those beautiful folks who can't get up that easy and turn the heat up..who won't because they are afraid of the insane bills that will follow..

How are you guys doin'? ... I am soo ready for Winter to calm abit..yes, even better to slip silently away...lol..

Hope everyone is having a good day! I did... I was able to work a bit in my studio and actually had some fun..lol... I have quite a bit of glass shards that are pilling up and I've been trying to figure out what to do with them..I also had this little vile...I filled it with glitter and a few words.. it turned out really cute.

I pulled out my glass grinder and started shaping some of those shards into some usable shapes! Here is a heart..

And a tiny pear.. I have some more hearts and a larger pear and some rectangles.

I found this lovely picture of this 1940's beauty..she is in a 1" glass button...

Well, I decided to pop on over and check out the wonderful projects Teresa Mcfayden has for the Winter Bella e-zine...fabulous stuff! Wed's project was this paper flower wall pocket...

Who knew you can sew paper! duh....where have I been..???

Here is the pocket, I needed to cut the paper a little slimmer....next time..

I added the silk flowers I have received past Valentines... some glitter and ribbon...

I love how the tag turned out! Very romantic!!

Well..I'm a bit disappointed with some things... the school superintendents for this county we live in for one thing... Our weather has been uncomfortable to say the least and other counties were allowed to have two hour delays to school starting.. Nope not our county!

The school district that we live in sooo rural! I would say over half the children live in the out lying areas where they plow...but don't salt..and it's very rough getting out in the morning.. okay..okay..enough belly aching! #3 started to cry this past morning when they had to go to school and others had a delay..It broke my heart! So...I dug out my can of red velvety goodness and made these cupcakes for the boys! Mom can't get Spring here any faster but, by George... I can add a little sweetness!

You guys near "Sprinkles" are sooo lucky! This fab place is 'to die for' I hear...so..This is the best we can do up here in the Artic tundra.http://www.sprinklescupcakes.com/

I found that Williams-Sonoma carries these mixes..sorry you guys didn't find my last post interesting... I'm tellin' ya...it's a awesome store. If I can get DH home long enough (he travels alot with our 'other' business ), he promised to go to one of their cooking classes with me.

Yup...#3 gave them his seal of approval.. there were red grins all around.

Howdy! I was actually able to make some things today..Hey..when it's -20 wind chill outside..what else is a gal to do?LOL
I haven't been able to solder in awhile..but this wee 1/2 inch beveled charm didn't turn out half bad.

I have quite a bit of beveled pieces so there will be lots of lovelies on their way! I was just thinking, any one have a wedding coming up? What a sweet gift for the bride or bridesmaids?! I could make a custom design just for you with your special date in it.

Has anyone seen the White Witch??!! Lol... I do believe it's Narnia! Noooo it's my back yard! The children always joke when it snows like this..'We've stepped through the wardrobe MoM!'

Yes ladies and gentlemen this is the view from now until oh...say April! And can you believe it? The children still had to go to school today! Nope... no snow days here... we recieved 6 inches last night... it has to be atleast a foot before they will even consider a late start!! lol!

On the upside... Spring is coming! There is a light at the end of this Looonnng tunnel called Winter. God's Word says there is a season for everything under the sun...a time to laugh..a time to cry... a time to hold on to and a time to let go.. It's been a week tomarrow since Bennie passed. I know I have to physically let her go..but I can hold on to her in my heart always. When those Shasta Daisies bloom this Summer..she will still be with me...it will be okay.

There are always 'lights' in the bleekness... shining rays of warmth.. What is yours? Where do you find comfort?

Hmm...nothing says 'warmth' ...'Summer' to me like lemon! I love lemon bars... lemon Italian Ice... the closest thing I've found lately is this... Scrumptious!

Well...I thought today I'd get out of the house, try and get my mind off things...As you can see my Amaryllis is blooming! The sun is shinning and it's a good day...

I thought I'd go to one of my antique shops for a bit of 'retail therapy'...is that bad? I would walk by something and Bennie would pop in my head.."oh, she had one of those.." But I had fun, found some good things for the store! The shabby sconces, rewired and ready for someones wall.

I just love silver! I found these 'loved' salt and pepper shakers.. we actually use some silver flatware everyday. I think it adds a beautiful touch to everyday life.

I thought this was interesting! A vintage wine bottle!! I don't know, maybe it's the color that caught my eye. I love faded turquoise!

Hope your week is going well..I picked up some more beveled glass so I will be making some 'Valentines' pieces. You gotta get back up on that horse, right?!

Well, she's gone...She was a wife, mother, sister, cousin...best friend..a star in her community..Bennie lost her battle with cancer this past Friday. It's been really hard this weekend. I feel like I was trapped up here in the WI when my family and friends were grieving in Georgia and able to say good-bye yesterday. See, that's the kind of person she was...her wishes were that she new if she passed on a Friday she wanted to be buried on Sunday so folks could get back to work on Monday. She never thought much about herself... always on the go taking care of others.

My beloved Bennie... she and her husband allowed my to stay with them for a long time growing up... they are only second cousins in the worlds eyes..But God used them in my life and in other people's lives mightily! Born again believers... made sure I went to Vacation Bible school... Church on Sundays..Sunday School... I know I'm going to see her again...

She taught me so much! How to make Buttermilk biscuits... sew... spit watermelon seeds...pick blueberries...See, she grew up in Lumpkin Co. Georgia.."downhome" goodness! From what I heard yesterday from family...so many folks came out of the 'Hills' to Atlanta to pay their respects to this amazing lady.

Please forgive my rambling...I feel alittle more alone now. Just knowing she was a phone call away made me feel that everything was okay..And now she's passed on. I do find comfort knowing though that she isn't hurting anymore, she is with so many of our relatives who have passed..The Great Cloud of Witnesses...rooting me on..."Now Missy...you know I'm okay...you just dry those tears girl, your family needs you...you know we'll all be together again..." I can just hear her say...She is an inspiration..a wonderful legacy to follow..I just hope I can measure up one day to this beautiful and amazing lady. I thank the good Lord He allowed her to be in my life..

A Hand written letter...

I'm very late to the party Laura, soo sorry! But I ditto every one's sentiments.. I was just raised you send a thank you some way some how.. I think I've lost my manners living here! =(

Fine paper and a fine writing utensil just put you in the mood! Most definatly let the person know you are interested about them and most of all..get to the point!

There is even an online site that allows you to make your own postage! I have seen that our Postal Service allows you to do this...but it was the slowest thing navigating the site.. sound familiar?LOL! I should hush, I was a sub mail carrier for a bit!

Valentine's Party hat part 1

Well...I'm trying to make my own party hat! Valentine's is coming up..it's my second favorite Holiday next to Christmas. It's not finished yet...so this is part one of this post.

This buttons will go on the front. It's been years since I've made some, it's fun folding and gluing! Reminds me of the paper fans I used to make in grade school. I tell ya! Children have the best imagination. My boys have come home with paper footballs..origami.

Speaking of paper, this is what I was telling you earlier about. Soldering paper! Yes, this is foam board that you might use for a school project or something. I made my design, glued her on there and some decorative paper on the back...

Taped the edges..now, this is really important, that when you cut your foam board that the edges are nice and smooth. The tape will pick up every bump and wrinkle.

I liberally applied Diamond Glaze to the paper! I think this is the key. This stuff is amazing and dries to a beautiful shine.

She is going to perch on top of my hat!

I don't think this turned out half bad for my first try. This is something neat and different than working with the glass, less expensive too! lol

My WinterBella Natures Message Jar

Here is my birdy for the WinterBella e-zine...Nature's Message. I didn't have a jar with a lid so this cloche will have to do. I chose a Cardinal because they are one of my favorite birds! They are soo pretty with their red feathers...
I embellished some tags... with eggs of course!lol...
I placed a tiny watch face in the nest next to him... I'm anxiously awaiting Spring! And of course, nothing is complete till there is a dusting of glorious glitter!
I didn't have any eggs to place next to Mr. Cardinal...but I placed 3 pink quartz stones..3 for my three children. Teresa stated that we try and use what we have on hand... This little display does bare the promise of Spring.. I just love it.

Well, I still haven't picked up our camera at our friend's house...(we live in the country and they live about 10 miles away) I REALLY need to pick it up! I visited my friend Teresa of Assemblage Studio today and was totally inspired! http://www.theassemblagestudio.com/
I have found a way to mix foam board..collage AND solder together!! That's right ladies and gentlemen..NO GLASS!
On top of that, I have joined the WinterBella E-ZINE workshop! http://www.paperbellastudio.com/ This inspiring and creative workshop is the master-mind of Teresa McFayden http://teresamcfayden.typepad.com/ so, you know it's fabulous! The first project was a BINGO card collage/Assemblage..I did it, and I don't have a camera to share pictures! DRAT!..Oh well... I created this digital one for ya!

Here is the next piece I was fooling around with. Seriously guys, Photoshop isn't as difficult as you think!! AAANNNDD its waay fun! I feel another blog banner coming on!LOL!! (****edit**I at NO point in time want to make anyone feel inferior.... I love Photoshop, I'm no expert, but if I can help anyone just drop me an email! No charge!! My point is, we can ALL do this!! ****)

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone was safe... and had a fun filled evening to ring in the new year...There are those of us who chose to stay home, with our comfy slippers..and with family. There are those of us who went to parties and celebrated the upcoming year with gusto and excitement...No matter how you did it, "It's" here and there is no turning back!

I beg your forgiveness... there are times when I get soo frustrated I want to throw my computer and everything out the window! But... I didn't..and I wont. I know there is something I'm supposed to be doing and I can't bring my self to quit completely.. My family wont let me quit! Darn them!!LOL! ..I'm soo kidding!!

Anyone remember the old T.V. show "Lost in Space"? Remember the Robot that would throw his hands up and yell "Warning..Warning... Danger..." I need him here when ever I'm getting too obsessive with this whole business thing! "Warning..Warning... Obsessive overload....step away from the work table... Danger..Danger... walk away from the computer..."

Well... a few days "off " and I can think a little more clearly.

I'm actually posting on my new computer tonight... I figured out that for now I need to load each picture one by one...

Anyway guys.. here is the thing... 2008 in new.... unblemished and uncharted! I want to take the road less traveled..the one that God has mapped out for me... I want to be inspired and push myself to be better, learn more... love...laugh and live more than ever before!

Hi guys! I'm totally exhausted.. after two hours trying to upload..well I'm quite speechless..I received an up to date laptop for Christmas and I'm still trying to get the kinks worked out! I upload, it adds two photos instead of one..it can't figure out which link I want...So I'm back on my dinosaur.
Okay..deep breath... Here is one of my hopes and prayers for Bella Colle for the New Year, I just want a small piece of the pie..It doesn't have to be a big one, but I think I've got some neat stuff and well Ladies, Isn't there enough for all of us to go around? 2007 has taken my breath away as to how incredibly hard it is here in the WI.. and on the web to start a business...Someone one grabbed my husbands hand when we joined our first church up here in WI and said "You won't find the Southern hospitality and welcome up here any where..except for a born again Christian..." This person 'hightailed' it outa here back down South... What is that supposed to mean? DH and I thought.I have since learned 7 yrs later that there is an incredible coldness out there..a true scence of selfishness..I miss my homeland!
Anyway, I'm sorry for not being upbeat and happy tonight.
Ahhh..Deep breath... I wanted to share with everyone about Favicon! This is a neat way of linking an icon to your site. I know you've seen it... A for Adobe.. The 'CBS' 'eye'.. Anyone have others? Here is a site to learn more..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon
There are blogs that have these, anyone know how to add them to blogger?...

Yup, this one too, I need to shrink this with Photoshop. I really like the idea of being able to have an icon that would be totally original to Bella Colle.. These Favicon icons are so original and much better than the old 'E' for Internet explorer.

What's in a name?

What's in a name anyway? When you hear a persons name whom you didn't get along with in High School, does it evoke feeling extreme distaste? Or vice versa, how about when you hear the name of the love of your life, does it bring on all warm and fuzzy feelings?

Well... I'm sure folks have paid alot of attention to naming their blogs and even their businesses..
I did. give careful thought to it. #1 and I were rolling around so many names about this time last year actually.. I love Italy.. I loved France and Spain when I visited it...

I adore Collage.. the pasting and gluing, the careful thought that goes into each piece. My life is a beautiful collage!

Well... that's me...Bella Colle...Beautiful Collage! The 'e' in Colle sounds like a long 'a'...

I hope that answers 'the who' and 'the what' is in my name...

I hope everyone's Christmas was grand!

Scenes of Christmas

Okay..if you can just humor me right now..can you vision/hear the song from the Nutcracker...Nutcracker suite..let this song play in your head as you see each photo..We had such a blessed Christmas, jammed packed..and full of life! I'm sure you have too.
This is one of my best friends Debbie, she graciously plays Mrs. Santa through the season at so many functions in cities in the area!.
We had three wonderful choral performances to attend...gosh, can you guess which one is #3..the only one lookin at the camera! He is such a ham..lovin it!
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve service at church. Brothers!

It's a tradition of our family to read " Ordinary Baby Extraordinary Gift" by Gloria Gaither each year on Christmas Eve..well, since we have been at the church we are at, I read it every Christmas Eve there too! Lovely book..so many have come up and said that it is the best for Christmas!
Don't they look peaceful?!! A few moments later it was a tornado...
Yes.. Me.. I look soo mean..so sorry! My DH said it's the same look he gets every Christmas morning..Hey...I haven't had my latte yet! LOL! After two hours of wrapping gifts in to the wee hours..give me a break!LOL!
Yippee... #1 ...I hope you and your family had a blessed day..not about the gifts, or fru fru.. but that it was peaceful.. full of God's peace.

Well..the orders are filled...the shopping is completed..House is ALMOST clean. Yup, I think I'm ready..
This neat little one is a mini glass button about 1/2 inch in diameter..
This one is a mini one as well.. my best friend called me " Oh My GOSH! I forgot my sister-in-law!"..."Have no fear! Bella Colle is here!" LoL..
I love the font on this one, I just might have to make one for myself!LOL..

I am feeling soo 'Thankful' tonight! For so many reasons...
I recieved an unexpected lovely necklace in the mail today! I don't know who it's from..but whom ever sent it..Thank you.
You guys who have voted for my other blog!! You guys rock! Thank you!! I don't feel like such a "0" zero any more!
I am soo thankful for the privilege of being able to get/make Christmas gifts! I am officially done! There is a family right in my own wee church that it was questionable if they were going to be able to purchase gifts for their small children...and keep their lights on... God provided. He always does!
That is where I'm at tonight... Thankful for God's gift! Jesus!
That is the meaning.. Christmas.. Christ..our gift from our amazing Heavenly Father!
That's right..a gift to you! You don't have to do anything but accept it...

Hi! gifts are a goin' around here... some from ...some to!
Amazing how life kicks into high gear this time of year..well, I went to my mail box and I finally received my 'Silver Bella' hoodie! http://www.teresamcfayden.typepad.com/silverbella/
Silver Bella was an event of amazing talent gathering to enjoy some 'Silver' goodness..amazing talents like Teresa Mcfayden..Kim Kwan...Corrine Ayers..lots and lots more..Hope Wallace..oh gosh, the list goes on. The event took place in November, well, I found about the event and this amazing group waay too late to purchase tickets. I was able to order a sweatshirt that commemorated the event... it went on sale waay before ..me, being the wanna be that I am.. I ordered and I was informed that there would be a wait..okay. It's a month later and I still didn't receive the hoodie.

That's me though..the nerd..lookin' in and it would be MY order that was forgotten..oh well..the wall flower..

But I did email the ladies..boy, everyone I spoke with via email were sooo nice and soo genuine! Put it this way... there were circumstances that prevented orders from being filled...I am soo the bug for eva!! So, to make up for the mishap... My hoodie was mailed and then some!! OH MY GOSH!!

Hi...hmm.. stairway to no where?Random stuff for this Tuesday ..
I'm pooped! DH and I have been Christmas shopping all day and well... This is the best I can come up with!LOL! Stairs... up there...Yawwwn... to my bed....

I've been known to paint just about anything...and for some reason the corners of my stairs where calling me one day.. Each side has a building the other side has a tree...
Or..a ship...
Or a lighthouse...
Anyone ever just have this kinda random acts of embellishment? I get these kinda things in my head sometimes and it's just gotta come out!!LOL!

Oh, my... my stairs are truly calling again... "Come...climb me... YOur soooO sleepy..."

Busy..Before Birthday

Hi! Busy...Busy day..busy week! I'm sure all you guys are... As always I've waited to the last min. to finally tackle Christmas shopping. Every year I vow I wont and sure enough...
Anyway..It's #2's birthday today! James is 11.
I have some errands to run.. cake to bake. Just thought I'd share a bit real quick. I was so inspired with some of your pink Christmas trees, well I just had to have one! Found this one and it fits perfectly in the bedroom.
I finally finished our Christmas cards! Couldn't find ones I liked so I pickup a few stamps and went to town!lol! Add some glitter and there you have 'em.

European Inspiration

European style.. I know you have heard of it! What does it evoke in your mind? I remember traveling to the southern coast of France, Italy and Spain...There is soo much history in the buildings and the food.. As you see in this picture, the little ally has soo many textures and colors. According to http://interiordesign.lovetoknow.com/Mediterranean_Style_Interior_Design Unlike formal Parisian drawing room style or dark Florentine or Madrileno design, Mediterranean design is carefree and casual, emphasizing the colors and textures found in the surrounding landscape.
I love the fact that there is a 'history' to the pieces used..Great Great Grandmas Armoir used with another inherited piece say a oriental rug... I love the textures.. and colors! (This is my hallway)
Color isn't sparse! Patterns are equally vibrant, we all know of Toile which actually translates to cloth in French...Which I have seen in almost every color of the rainbow.
This dinning room photo is from a home in Mas de la Vit in Lot, France. I love the transparency of the drapes! And the color is warm and sunny.
You see here an example of a more 'airy' approach to European design. This room was designed by Simone Dumont. The designer mixed period pieces and I think the room has the casual elegance I just love!
Here is a corner of my living room... The walls are the faintest of pinks and I used stencils around the top to add interest to the already beautiful textured walls! (Never mind the mic... and piano..LOL)
So, when I hear someone speak of European Inspired.. I think of the timelessness and beauty of loved furniture... beautiful linens.. and the eclectics of it all! I think it all boils down to using what you love! What inspires you?
